Situated at the head of the Swansea Valley, Dan yr Ogof is one of the finest and best preserved caves in South Wales.  Scheduled as a National Nature Reserve, the cave is afforded a special level of protection under the Wildlife & Countryside Act (1981).

The first section of the cave is open to the public and is one of Wales' most popular tourist attractions - also recently voted "Britain's finest natural wonder".  Beyond lie at least 17km of passage under the Black Mountain, much of it large and superbly decorated.

The system beyond the showcave is managed by the Dan yr Ogof Cave Advisory Committee on behalf of the showcave owner and the Countryside Council for Wales. Visits by bona-fide cavers are encouraged, subject to the Access conditions to be found on this site.
